Which kind of hand will allow you to redouble (after a major opening 1 ♥ or 1 ♠) ?
Reminders
- Redoubling requires A minimum of 10 HCP
- Therefore, the opener knows the pair has got the majority of points
- After a redouble, any ensuing double shall be punitive
The best redoubling hand : short in the opener's major suit !
A void would even be better !
With a 11 HCP balanced hand
Don't forget, a 2 NT bid is not possible, as 2 NT is a Truscott : 4 cards support and at least 10 HCP.
With a 3 cards support (sometimes 4) and a positive hand you've assessed worth at least 10 HCP
With a long minor suit. Redouble first, and name your minor suit afterwards.
Remember : shifting at level 2 after a double is not forcing....therefore with a hand < 10 HCP.
