The declarer's free finesse on the 1st trick
Playing a trump contract, you can try a free finesse manoeuvre. When dummy has 1 or 2 honor(s) in the suit, let the lead card run towards your stiff Q, J or 10.
- If your opponent has led under an honor, your singleton will make the trick...and you'll discard a loser on dummy's honor
- If your opponent hasn't led this way, you will, later on, get an opportunity to discard on dummy's honors.
Example
You are playing a 4
♥ contract. The lead is 4
♠ and you have the Q in hand, stiff ! Which of dummy's cards should you play ?
