The 3 NT lead

PDF
1 The lead suit in a NT contract
  • the 5 card suit bid by your partner
  • your longest suit
  • a major suit of at least 4 cards containing an honor in-an unbid suit
  • Think about the bidding :
    • A suit not bid
    • A major when the bidding was 1NT-3NT

If there is any hope of putting the contract down on the lead - then take it ! Above all avoid giving them a trick by leading badly.

in the 5 card suit bid by your partner or in your own overcall suit, lead odd-even
   with 3 cards

  • with an honor, the middle card

If there is any hope of putting the contract down on the lead - then take it !

Play the King of course which shows a strong sequence : at least 5 cards and normally 3 honors. Leading with an Ace shows a suit with A K X.
