The 2 clubs Landik

PDF

The 2 clubs Landik is a convention used by the responder after his Partner opened in a minor and the second-seat player overcalled 1NT.
By bidding 2 clubs the responder promises:
  • - a major two-suiter at least 5-4
  • - maximum 8HCP. With more than 8HCP he would have doubled.

South is using the Landik convention. He doesn't promise anything in clubs!

Examples of the Landik
The following examples show that the Landik is used with weak hands but it is however essential that the high cards (and therefore the HCP)are situated in the two majors.
