Blackwoods are conventional bids that enable a camp investigating a slam (around 30HCP) to know precisely the number of Aces (...or key cards) held by the camp.
The main Blackwoods are :
  • Blackwood for tha Aces 30-41 (not recommanded)
  • RKC (Roman Key Cards) Blackwood (Used for all exercises at level 1,2,3)
  • Exclusion Blackwood (also used on the site ...when there is a void)
  • RKC Blackwood 41-30 (used only for exercises at level 4)

RKC Blackwood 30-41
In order to use it, the fit must have been agreed: indeed, this Blackwood enables to to clarify the quality of the trump suit as well as the number of Aces.
Instead of showing the number of Aces, the partnefr bids his number of key cards : key vards are the Aces and the King of trump
  • 5 ♣ : 3 or 0 key cards
  • 5 ♦ : 4 or 1 key cards 41
  • 5 ♥ : 2 key cards without the Queen of trump
  • 5 ♠ : 2 key cards with the Queen of trump
  • 5 SA : 2 key cards and a chicane
  • 6 in a suit : 3 ou 1 key cards and a chicne in the suit bid

Eclusion Blackwood
It is used by the player bidding the Blackwood when he has a chicane and wants to know the number of key cards held outside the suit of the chicane.
It is bid by a bid in the suit of the chicane that takes the partner aback : It is always a surprising jump in the suit where the bidder has a chicane. After a support bid, a jump in a new suit that goes beyond game, is an exclusionn Blackwood.The partner then bids his number of key cards (if trump has been agreed) outside the suit of the chicane
  • Suit just above =3 or 0 key cards
  • 2 paliers au dessus = 1 or 4 key cards
  • 3 paliers au dessus = 2 key cards
