Is a pre-empt which needs :
  • a strength of 10HCP approx
  • a minor suit with 7 leading tricks (and not 8 !)
  • and.... nothing anywhere, meaning no outside (in another suit) Kings or Aces

Be Careful!

Don't open 3NT with an outside Ace or a King (in another suit) or a void.

Following bids after a 3NT opening
  • With honors in the other suits and therefore the possibility to play NT, Responder passes.
  • Without the possibility to play 3NT, but the strength to go for Game in Opener's minor, Responder bids Game in and if this isn't Opener's minor he rectifies to 5. (Responder has both minors)
  • Without the possibility of being able to play 3NT and your minor is , bid 4. If Opener's minor is he passes, if not he bids 4.
