Getting the notion of equal value cards
  • Cards are equivalent when the Opponent has to supply the same value card in order to win the trick
  • In the example below, the king, queen, jack and the 10 all have the same value equivalent value cards.

Between the 2 hands you have 4 cards in a sequence (K,Q,J,10) : this means that in playing any one of these cards, the Opponent has to play a card with the same value, that is the ace, to be able to take the trick.
King, Queen, Jack and 10 are cards of the same value.

Establishing tricks
  • When one or several honors become leading, we say that they have been established.
  • In the same way that once all the cards in a suit are leading, then the suit has been established
