- In spite of those 14HCP, don't overcall with the first hand. A 5332 distribution is the worst (with a five-card suit), the hearts are weak, one of the spade honors will be caught, and the queen of diamonds is worth nothing...
- With the second hand however, bid 2 hearts. You have a strong six-card suit, a 6421 distribution and the intermediate diamond cards which should convince you!
