Suit Handling
How to handle a suit :
East's 1st question : is a finesse necessary ? (Opps haven't made any bids)
East's 1st question : is a finesse necessary ? (Opps haven't made any bids)
- Finesse to the King : you should try it, if your team have less than 11 cards in a suit. With 11 cards in a suit, play the Ace and hope that one of the Opps has the Kingleton.
- Finesse to the Queen : try it if your team have less than 9 cards.. With 9 cards, hope that your Opps have a 2-2 distribution and play Ace-King.

Suit handling :
The finesse problem sorted, the next question ... is it possible to to take an honor singleton from one of the Opps ?
The reply is easy :
The finesse problem sorted, the next question ... is it possible to to take an honor singleton from one of the Opps ?
The reply is easy :
- you have enough cards to play the finesse several times and you are able to keep communications with dummy. so start by testing the waters, this will increase your odds.
- This play shouldn't compromise your finesse because the probability of finding an honor singleton is always lower than finding an honor doubleton or tripleton !

Exercise Q4500 No testing the waters, you can't finesse again and make 6 tricks if the Queen is 4th in East.

Exercise Q4501 It doesn't look like it's going to be a problem here to test the ground before attempting a finesse on West. You have enough cards to repeat the play.
Suit Handling : which way should I finesse ?
And now, the last question before implementation, which way to finesse ?
With no info on Oppp's distribution and holding (you can let your Opps be in hand without taking a risk) sometimes it's possible to finesse both ways, but the question is ... which way ?
If one of your tenaces is reinforced with intermediary cards, always finesse towards the strongest tenace and hopefully you'll be able to strip out Opps' intermediary cards.

Exercise Q4501 Here the 8 reinforces dummy's Jack and will perhaps enable you to finesse to the 9. So play from your hand towards dummy's tenace.
Finessing the queen: With 7 cards think that the Queen may possibly be 3rd or 4th : Start with the 9 and try finessing the Queen. If it succeeds you'll have 4 tricks ! If East doesn't play the Queen on the 1st trick, continue with the 10 then the Jack.
