Doubling an artificial bid is an indication by your partner that he is interested in a lead in that sui. It requires a solid 5 card suit.
Examples of artificial bids that can be doubled to direct the lead include :
  • 2 ♣ Stayman and Texas transfers after a
    • NT opening bid
  • Opening bids of 2 ♣
These bids being artificial, the bidding will not stop after your double !
