The first trick : take or duck ...
When playing a NT contract, should you take or duck the 1st trick...
- You can duck if you have a stopper, sometimes 2, if you think the played suit is the only dangerous one. Doing so, you are :
- blocking the opponents' communications
- preventing the opponent from operating his suit
- Take the 1st trick if another suit is more dangerous !
- Sometimes, you must take the trick right away in order to block the opponent's suit
