Hand evaluation

School bridge Hand evaluations
There are 3 methods for hand evaluation :
  • The HL count, in the absence of a fit : You add 1 L point per card after the 4th in each suit
  • The HLD count with a fit:
    • 22 points for the 9th card in trump, 1 pfor each one after that
    • 3 points for a chicane, 2 for a singleton , 1 fora doubleton
  • The count of playing tricks, for strong openings and preempts

The strength for bidding a game
  • Bidding 3NT requires 25 to 32HL
  • Bidding 4 or 4 requires 27 to 32HL

 
Opening bids in SEF
  • Precise openings
    • 1 or 2 NT with regular hands and, respectively: 15-17HCP or 20-21HP
  • Artificial openings
    • The 2 strong (22-23HCP or enough tricks for game - 2 )
    • The 2 forcing to game (With 24+HL or enough tricks for game - 1)
  • Opening of 1 in a suit with other handsand between 12 and 21HCP
    • You open your longest suit, provided it has at least 5 cards, if it is a major ( or )
    • With 2 5 carders, bid the highest suit firs
    • With no 5 cards major, open your longest minor
    • With 3 cards in each minor, Open 1
    • With 4 cards in each minor, Open the best one
    • With 5 cards in each minor, Open 1
