Free finesse on the 1st trick

The declarer's free finesse on the 1st trick
Playing a trump contract, you can try a free finesse manoeuvre. When dummy has 1 or 2 honor(s) in the suit, let the lead card run towards your stiff Q, J or 10.
  • If your opponent has led under an honor, your singleton will make the trick...and you'll discard a loser on dummy's honor
  • If your opponent hasn't led this way, you will, later on, get an opportunity to discard on dummy's honors.
