There are 4 types of Bergen Raises :
There are 4 types of Bergen Raises :
- 1- 3♣ A "Constructive" raise, showing 7-10 points and exactly 4-card trump support.
- 2-3♦ A "Limit" raise, showing 10-12 points and exactly 4-card trump support.
- 3- 3 in the agreed major A "Preemptive" raise, showing 0-6 points and exactly 4-card trump support.
- 4- 3 in the unbid major An "ambiguous splinter" raise. An unbalanced, game-forcing raise promising 12+ points and 4-card trump support, with an undisclosed singleton or void. With a balanced game-forcing raise, use the Jacoby 2NT convention instead.

3- A new suit above the agreed major Shows a 3rd zone hand with slam interest and a control. ... and asks Responder to show his next control, below the 4 level in the agreed major
4- 4 in agreed major is a sign off at game, with a maximum hand.
