**The Opener's Rebid with 3NT**
After a minor suit opening and a response in a major, with a balanced hand of 18-19 HCP and a 4-card fit, the opener can use the bid of 3NT (SEF bid). The opener's rebid of 3NT is not forcing. Despite discovering the fit, the responder may pass with a 4-3-3-3 hand. Example:

**Continuation of the Bidding** Depending on the shape and strength of their hand, the responder may pass, conclude to game, or initiate control bids toward a slam. - With a balanced 4-3-3-3 hand, the responder can pass after the 3NT bid. - With an unbalanced hand of 8-9 total points, the responder bids game in the major. - With slam prospects, the responder initiates control bids.
