Loser on losere
When a trick must be conceded, for any reason, you can choose to deliberately let the opps make it and discard a loser in another suit. The most frequent use of this maneuver are when there is a chance of overruff by the opps, or a risk of shortening in trump.
Example :
You are in South as declarer of a 4 ♠ contract. West leads ♦ ; He cashes in the Ace and Queen then plays the King . The bidding shows you that West does not have a ♦ left and may overruff..

Look closely at the hands : You syill have a loser in ♥ and your contract is cold if you capture the 10 ♠. Don't take the risk of being overruffed and willingly concede this ♦ trick ... and discard your losing ♥. Even if the 10 ♠ is 4th, your contract is cold !If you ruff high and the 10 ♠ is in a 4 carder, you won't make your contract...
