Michaels cue-bids : the first 2 conventions
There are many Michaels cue-bids, but we are going to look at 2 very practical and fairly simple conventions :
  • 2NT shows 5-5 in the two lowest ranked suits (after all one level openings)
  • 2 diamonds after a one level minor opening shows the 2 major suits 5-5
For these overcalls, suit quality and vulnerability are worth considering more carefully than overall point count. It's important that the HCP are in the suits bid
