Fourth seat reopening bids after a one NT opening

PDF
The fourth seat reopening bid
Reminder: a reopening bid is made by the opponents after two passes.
After a 1NT opening and two passes, there are about the same number of points on both sides.
Usually, the opener has 16HCP and the responder who passes, 3 or 4HCP (the average is between 0 and 7HCP)
Each side has about 20HCP so the fewer the points of the fourth seat player, the more his partner has, and they are situated after the opener!
The best situation for your side is when the fourth seat has few points.

With a two-suiter
When reopening, just as if you were in second seat after a 1NT opening, you can show your two suits to your Partner thanks to the Landy if they are majors (normally at least 5-4) and thanks to the 2NT bid, if they are minors (at least 5-5).

the Jaïs double
After a 1NT opening, use a reopening double to show:
  • opening points
  • a long, strong suit
  • and a side entry to hand

If your Partner is weak, he will pass and try and lead to your suit. If he has absolutely nothing at all, he will bid 2 clubs to allow you to return to your suit if necessary.
